Shani Banerjee
Shani Banerjee is a multi-disciplinary artist practicing photography, music performance and composition, filmmaking, dance, and writing over the course of 20 years.
Her experiences as a second generation South Asian American define much of her artistic exploration and expression. Shani’s work encompasses personal grief and loss, displacement, as well as the hilarity that is often a result of misadventure.
She has received grants from Marshall Guitars, KST Alloy Studios, Listhus Icelandic Artist Residencies, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has also worked in organizational and programmatic development in non-profit as a technologist at ReMake Digital Learning, Girls Rock Pittsburgh, and Women in Tech Pittsburgh.
Her current focus is exploring the intersection of humor, storytelling and the many musical genres she has performed over the years, violin and vocals for indie band, The Sewerheads, as well as her first foray into motherhood.
